Our story so far...

Summit was Founded by Mel Morris - Recruitment Professional of the year 2019.  

With over 16 years in the Recruitment Industry Mel has been exposed to all facets of recruitment, working across a range of different industries, disciplinies and role types. 

Mel commenced her journey in the recruitment sector in 2003 after recently graduating with a Masters Degree in Social Work, as an Industrial on hire labour consultant with Hudson where she built the foundations of her career in blue collar temporary recruitment. 

Very quickly realising that working in Blue collar she could make a real difference' to people's lives - people who wanted to work but struggled for various reasons.  Helping candidates / job seekers that legitimately wanted to work and working with ethical clients that treated staff fairly became the cornerstone of her practice and remains so.

While at Drake she upskilled in permanent recruitment and took the opportunity to gain leadership experience.  Then in 2006 Mel was approcahed to help set up a new agency in the market place "Noble Recruitment".  While at Noble Mel further developed her exposure to permanent recruitment and branched into business development and key account management. 

In 2008, Noble was purchased by reliance recruitment and Mel assumed management of the Auckland office. During her tenure she lead Reliance auckland from loss to profit within 12 months and to six figure profits inside 3 years, dispite the Global financial crises at the time. 

In 2012, Mel moved to ERG Recruitment in a business development capacity and took up management of the business in 2015. Over the next 4 years Mel lead the business from strength to strength and as a result was given full operational control of the branch.  In 2019 Mel was awarded the RCSA NZ Recruitment Professional of the Year award.

After 7 years with ERG, Mel saw a loop hole in the recruitment market for her unique brand of recruitment and started Summit Recruitment. Where alot of agencies will have core working hours Mel understands that in order to service a client effectively you sometimes need to work outside the norm and is willing to work in partnership with her clients to ensure they receive the best results for their recruitment.
